Blood Drive at Platte Valley Bank in Platte City

Today, the Community Blood Center is at Platte Valley Bank in Platte City, MO. Bank employees and customers from all over the area are donating pints of blood to save lives. Thank you to everyone who participated today! The Community Blood Center was able to collect 26 units!

In 1958, a group of Kansas City area physicians, hospital and civic leaders became the first architects of today's Community Blood Center. Their single-minded vision was to save lives by serving the needs of patients in this community. Their mission is “to provide a safe and adequate supply of blood and blood components to meet the transfusion needs of patients in our community.”

Community Blood Center Facts:

 

  • By just making one donation, you can help as many as two patients. Your blood can be divided into blood components - plasma and red cells.
  • Community Blood Center needs 580 donors each day to meet area hospitals' needs.
  • Community Blood Center sends out almost 3,600 units of blood components each week to treat patients in over 70 area hospitals.
  • Community Blood Center has collected nearly 2,000,000 pints of blood and over 800,000 people have received blood donated at Community Blood Centers since opening in 1958.
  • The Community Blood Center relies solely on volunteer blood donors to meet the community’s blood needs.
