Retirement Plans

Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) can help you save for retirement while offering possible tax advantages as well. Platte Valley Bank offers a variety of penalty-free IRA options and provides investment opportunities in Platte Valley Bank Certificates of Deposit.

Traditional IRA

Traditional IRAs offer the potential for tax-deductible contributions and tax-deferred earnings; however, pretax assets are subject to Federal Income Tax at distribution (some exceptions may apply). You must have earned income to open this account. Contributions to an IRA may be fully or partially tax-deductible, depending upon marital status, participation in a company pension plan, tax-filing status and adjusted gross income. Please consult with your tax professional to determine if a Traditional IRA is right for you.

Roth IRA

Roth IRA contributions are not tax-deductible but offer the potential for tax-free distributions. Earnings grow tax-free, and distributions are generally tax-free in the year they are distributed provided certain requirements are met. Eligibility to contribute to a Roth IRA is affected by the individuals Modified Adjusted Gross Income or MAGI. You must have earned income and fall within the MAGI limits to open an account. Please consult with your tax professional to determine if a Roth IRA is right for you.

SEP IRA

SEP (Simplified Employee Pension) IRAs are simple retirement plans. Any type of business or employer can adopt a SEP plan. Contributions are subject to the discretion of the employer. Within prescribed limits, an employer may deduct employee SEP plan contributions. An employer makes its SEP plan contributions to each eligible employee’s traditional SEP IRA. Please consult with your tax professional to determine if a SEP IRA is right for your business.
