How to Protect Your Information


Platte Valley Bank will stand behind you if your account is compromised. Here are some helpful things you can do to better protect yourself:

Protect Your Account Information

• Carry only the information you need. Leave your Social Security card and extra credit cards in
   a safe place.
• Get in the habit of checking regularly to make sure you have your card(s).
• Never give out your checking account, credit card, Social Security Number or other personal
  information to solicitors or callers you haven’t contacted.
• Never share your check card, credit card or ATM card password or Personal Identification
  Number (PIN).
• Shred personal documents and financial statements before you throw them away.
• Check your accounts often with free Internet Banking, and contact us if you notice any
   suspicious activity.
• Help prevent mail fraud by signing up to receive and pay bills online for free with Bill Pay, and
  enroll to receive free Online Statements.
• Check your credit report regularly; you’re entitled to one free credit report each year. You can
   also get a copy directly from the credit bureaus for a small fee:

          - Equifax: 800-685-1111 or equifax.com
          - Experian: 888-397-3742 or experian.com
          - TransUnion: 800-916-8800 or transunion.com

Shop Safely Online

• Provide personal information only on Web sites that are secure, and only when you have initiated the contact (note: secure sites will display "https" appears in the Web site address).
• Before you provide personal information, always look for the “closed lock” icon in your browser window.
• Always log off after completing an online transaction, or close the browser window.
• Don’t send your check or credit card information via email, especially in response to an emailed request. Platte Valley Bank will never email you to request sensitive personal information.

Report Fraud Immediately

• Report lost or stolen cards immediately to 816-858-5400 weekdays from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and
  Saturdays from 8:30 – Noon or call 1-800-472-3272 during non-business hours.
• Monitor your statements closely, and immediately report any transactions you don’t recognize.
• Note your check or credit card’s expiration date. If you don’t receive a replacement before the
  expiration date, call your credit card company immediately.
