4th Graders at Hawthorn Elementary know the Importance of Saving

April 03, 2014

Tuesday, Platte Valley Bank gave presentation to four fourth-grade classes at Hawthorn Elementary School in Parkville, MO. The presentation discussed the importance of saving money for future goals. Topics included why saving is important, what things we can save for (cars, games), how we can make money to pay for them, safe places to keep money, and how the Dollar Bill Kids Club works to support those goals.  Other topics included interest rates, credit cards vs. debit cards, paying for college, and more.

The 4th grades and their teachers were amazing. The children can up with many great ideas on how to make money and save for future needs and want. They even asked questions about how employees are paid, working hourly versus salary, and how corporate partnerships work. These Hawthorn Elementary teachers are doing a fantastic job of setting proper financial expectations for their students.
